Experience

I have worked as a private tutor for over 8 years in the Farmingdale/Massapequa area. I had over 15 regular families that I worked with, ranging in age and subject material. I was well-known in both districts, and got most of my clients from word of mouth because of my success rate with my students. I love to teach and find it extremely rewarding to help a student excel. I have experience working with student disabilities such as cerebral palsy, ADHD, and ADD, and am knowledgeable with IEP standards and resource room requirements. I specialize in math and homework help, but can adapt to any subject material necessary. I have experience with SAT/ACT preparation, as well as college essay writing. I am fluent in the current NYS regents standards and all the included exams. I completed 6 A.P. courses in 2008/2009. I can meet students at their home, my home, or a local library/cafe/etc. I am extremely flexible and can work my schedule around your needs.

Hobbies

I found that a lot of my students would relate to me because of my interests and hobbies making it a lot easier to teach them the subject material. I was able to take a few minutes in the beginning of each session to ask about his or her week, what shows they watched, etc, and that helped make the situation more comfortable. My students were not afraid to ask questions or have me re-explain something because I was not intimidating or judgmental at all. I love pop culture music, video games, NYCC, horror movies, Nightmare Before Christmas, Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando, and haunted houses. A lot of my interests make it easy to relate to the student, and have me be viewed as a friend that is helping rather than a teacher that is going to be constantly grading them.
